Core Aeration and Over Seeding
In order to have a lush, and healthy, lawn, watering and sunlight are the most important things. There are, however, other things that we can do to help your lawn grow and stay heathy. Two of these processes are core aeration and over seeding. Core aeration is a way to help oxygen get in to the soil, which encourages grass growth. Over seeding is a way to make sure that any bald patches are filled in, making your lawn as full as possible.
What Is Core Aeration? Core aeration is a process in which a machine takes small cores out of your existing soil, creating a hole in the soil. This is done to encourage oxygen and water to flow in to your soil better. This process also encourages helpful insects, such as warms, to thrive and it helps micro flora and micro fauna to have a healthy ecosystem. Core aeration is a fantastic process to use if you are looking to maintain the health of a beautiful lawn space. If you choose to have core aeration done, we can make the process as quick, and efficient, as possible. Benefits of Core Aeration The benefits of core aeration are numerous. One of the biggest benefits is that, taking cores out of your soil, encourages oxygen to permeate your soil. Since grass needs oxygen to grow, this is a very healthy thing. The cores also make it easier for water to seep in to the soil that surrounds your grass. Another benefit is that core aeration helps worms to thrive, which will help to keep pests at bay. Lastly, core aeration promotes the healthy ecosystems of, both, micro flora and micro fauna, which both help organize matter to grow and thrive. What is Over Seeding? Over seeding is a process of planting new grass seed, directly in to existing grass or sod. In a traditional lawn planting, the earth and soil will be graded, and tilled, to prepare the soil for the grass seed. However, with over seeding, the gal is to not tear up, or disturb, the existing lawn you have. This process is done, mostly, when a harsh winter, or pests, have left bald spots in your lawn. Over seeding is a way to promote additional grass growth, without disturbing the growth that you have already worked so hard to maintain. Benefits Of Over Seeding The benefits of over seeding mostly relate to the thickening up of existing lawn. Over seeding can be used to fix bald spots in your lawn, by applying seed directly on top of the soil that once had grass in it. But bald spots isn’t all that over seeding is used for. Over seeding can also be used on perfectly healthy patches of lawn to give a thicker, and more lush, look to your lawn. You can think of it kind of like this: over seeding leads to over growing, but in this case, over growing is exactly what we are after. |
